Helping People Grow - Bob Gaber, National Trainer

Having been in this industry for over 27 years has made me rather humble.  Having trained literally thousands of successful consultants, managers, and dealer principles, has made me proud.

Coming from a very poor background  growing up in Coney Island, New York , I always had to work hard get anything that I got. My only salvation was my brains. I was book smart and that allowed me to advance in school to get away from my past.  I went to Tufts University and became a Periodontist.  Some would say,  I had a good life.  But, as a wise person once said, “Never judge a book by it’s cover”. My marriage was failing and so was my life.  After fifteen years, everything went wrong and I lost it all. My marriage, my profession and my family.

I went to work at Nathans, the hotdog emporium and that is where  I met my mentor, a salesmanager from the Bronx, named Lou and he offered me a position selling cars.  My first day on the job, I saw four people and sold three cars.  I was hooked.  My technical background served me well.  I developed my own database to keep track of my clients, my referers and my money. My boss offered me a position with a new title, “Customer Development” because I spoke well and could keep track of everything.  I was one of the first Business Development Managers in the United States for the auto industry.  Over the years, I have literally trained thousands of successful people.

Now, my life’s work is to give back to the profession that turned my life around. Let’s not kid ourselves. This is one tough business!  But if you do the things you are supposed to do, listen to the people that know, and keep your ego in check, you will be rewarded, handsomely.

Thank You to Craig Lockerd and AutoMax for allowing me to be a positive infulence on the lives of my dealers and my trainies.  And as a last thought: I am telling you, straight up, if you want professionalism in your work place, AutoMax is the only vehicle to drive.
